grading system is gaining support in baltimore city hall. >> that system would change the way city health officials inspect restaurants and bars by shining letter grades that would be posted in full view of customers. we give you a closer look. >> over jimmy's, the lunch rush is in full swing. not much has changed since the owner's family opened the place in the late '40s, so when asked about a new proposal by the city to assign grades to restaurants and bars concerning their city health inspections, he told us, why change the system that already works? >> the health department does their inspections. they do a good job of it. if a place should be closed down, it's closed down. i don't see what letter grades on the front really mean in reality. >> the bottom line is is the citizens deserve to know the conditions of the places they choose to eat. right now in the city they cannot do that. >> the idea comes from brandon scott and has full support from the city council. he said he got the idea after a number of complaints from his district at a recent trip to north carolina where all of the

up to hurricane sandy. our coverage of the impact continues with sarah sampson live in ocean city and george lettis. let's begin with meteorologist john collins in the weather center. >> the latest models are hunkering down. all week last week we had one model in particular, the european, set as coming right into our area. that's still the case. the other models have come more to that conclusion. the current hurricane is off the florida coast. here's the latest model. forget the friday written there. most of the models take the storm in somewhere around new jersey and that time frame would be somewhere monday afternoon into the early hours on tuesday. so that would put the strongest winds north of maryland, excuse me, in the chesapeake bay area but by no means does that mean the storm misses us. it's still a very powerful storm with very significant winds. the models are coming to a conclusion that somewhere on the delmarva or up to long island would be the best landfall possibility. at various times anywhere from monday afternoon to early tuesday morning. any of these solutions g

and there were some intense storms. >> kind of a little bumpy. >> just north of the city. lot of folks got the thunder park. the intense park was up in baltimore county. moved into harper county. that activity generated tornado warning, although we haven't had any reports of tornados. it was up in the clouds. there were gusty winds, minor damage, lot of rain. this morning we take a look at the radar and satellite combination. we do have some fog. lot of moisture right at ground level. with these chilly temperatures coming in. you can see to the right and left on the extremes out towards the edge of the picture, you see some clouds out over the water and mountains in west virginia and garrett county. that green you see around the radar site, west of washington, that's the sterling, virginia, site. that's ground cover on the radar. we're not picking up any activity this morning. i'll detail it all in just a few minutes. >>> our big story this morning comes out of prince georges county, where last night a jury reached a verdict in the trial of two officers beating a university of maryland stu

county just north of the city. and that showed circulation up in the clouds, a few thousand feet up. a tornado warning was issued. still showing circumstance laying up in the clouds. it never apparently did reach the ground although some strong gusty winds developed which did cause some damage. lot of rain in this line of storms between 6:30 and 7:30. with the pendant out of the picture, things are fine. let's look at things going on right now as we look outside. lots of sunshine out there. not a cloud in the sky. at least around baltimore. 52 degrees at the airport. 57 at the inner harbor. 89% the humidity. that number's starting to go down now that temperatures are going up. any fog that was in the area this morning, there are a few patches of fog. that will be dissipating. 29.77 the barometer rising because the front is moving away from us now head on east. we have a west wind at three miles an hour. that breeze should pick up during the day today. temperatures this morning up to 57 at annapolis, 54 elkton, edgewood, 53. parkton spent the overnight hours in the 40s. now up to 50.
